Through continuous efforts in the past decades, Yunnan Agricultural University (YAU) has cooperated with over 100 universities in 25 countries across 5 continents.
The history of international cooperation and exchange of YAU dates back to 1960s. We support teaching and research through a wide range of subjects including foreign talents recruitment, international visits, international training and conferences, educational programs for teachers and students, management and faculty, and joint-programs for degrees.
Talents Recruitment
YAU is open to talents from all over the world. The first international teacher is Mr. HAYASHI Mitsuru. He came to YAU in 1960. Since then, the university has recruited 429 teachers and researchers with various expertise and different cultural backgrounds. They are from Japan, the US, the UK, Canada, Thailand, South Korea, Egypt, New Zealand and many other countries. Michael Augustine Fullen (UK), Dongsun Lee (South Korea), Nicholas James Sugden Noble (UK), Jacques Leclerc du Sablon (France), have been recognized with Caiyun Award, the highest recognition for foreign experts in Yunnan.
International Visits
Since 1980, the university has received more than 400 visiting groups of foreign guests, including Nguyễn Thiện Nhân, Vietnam's former Deputy Prime Minister, Barbara Woodward, the former Ambassador of UK to China, the foreign ministers of ten ASEAN countries, the French Embassy in China, the Canadian Consulate in Chongqing, the Italian Consulate in Chongqing and other institutions.
International Training and Conferences
In 2012, China-ASEAN Education and Training Center was established in Yunnan Agricultural University. It is one of the first ten ASEAN Education and Training Centers in China and the only center on agriculture.
Since its establishment, more than 600 students, government officials, teachers and researchers from over 20 countries, including Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines, Myanmar and Sri Lanka have been trained, which promoted the educational cooperation and exchange between universities and local governments.
China-ASEAN Education and Training Center has become a well-known platform between Yunnan Agricultural University and neighboring countries along "Belt and Road" to share agricultural technology and to train international talents who "know China" and "befriend China".
Students and Teachers’ Mobility
By now, over 4,000 students from 56 countries have come to Yunnan Agricultural University for various educational programs. International students can find financing support by applying for China Scholarships, Yunnan scholarships, university scholarships to support their study in Yunnan Agricultural University.
Since 1982, nearly 400 teachers have been supported by various international educational program. They went to 31 destinations respectively for their study, including the US, the UK, Australia, Japan, Thailand, etc.
